I moved my music files to an external network drive before intalling
Vista. If I right click/properties on the music folder it correctly
indicates over 2,000 folders at 54GB. When I view this folder in
Explorer I only see 130 Folders with 7.14 GB. If I copy the entire
folder over, I only get the 130 folders. Another NT machine on the
nework can see all the folders.

Can't see folders on network drive
There's a bug in an older version of the Samba server software used in many Network Attached Storage drives. Check to see if there is a firmware update available for your drive that includes the fixed version (it was fixed in Samba sometime late last year IIRC).

Thanks Chris - I will check WD for an update.

I am having a similar problem with VISTA-x64 and VISTA-x32. I have a maxtor NAS- shared storage drive, 200gB and a lot of the directories don't show up in explorer. They do show up from a dos prompt, or if I boot back to XP-PROx64, or any of 5 other systems running xp-pro and w2k. I check the firmware in my NAS and it is from Feb of 06. If I boot the system with the 2 VISTAs on it back to xp-pro all the directories are thier. This has stopped all my VISTA testing, I don't even want to take a chance and write to the NAS for fear I will blow everyone's files away.
So I am assuming that I have the latest Network OS and I still have the issue, but ONLY on VISTA.
Thanks for listening. -- Mike Shanahan
